Our purpose

How every guide is made

Our editorial team researches, writes and reviews every guide, and may use software tools including AI to assist drafting. Every guide is reviewed by an editor before publishing and updated when things change.

In practice, that means:

1. Research. We start from official and primary sources, such as government and regulator websites, official application portals, and published information from institutions and employers, and we link to them where useful.
2. Writing. Guides are written in plain language for a worldwide audience. Where rules vary by country, we say so rather than presenting one country's rules as universal.
3. Use of software and AI tools. We may use software tools, including AI, to help with tasks such as outlining, drafting, summarising sources, translation and checking spelling and grammar. These tools support our editors; they do not replace them. AI-assisted text is never published without human review.
4. Editorial review. Before a guide is published, an editor checks it for accuracy against the sources, clarity, balance and compliance with this policy, and removes anything that cannot be verified.
5. Updates. We revisit guides when rules, dates, figures or processes change, or when readers tell us something is out of date, and show the date of the last update on the page.
6. Images. The lead image at the top of a guide is an illustration generated with AI image tools and checked by an editor; it illustrates the topic and does not show a real person, document, product or event described in the guide.

Accuracy and balance

• We distinguish clearly between facts, general explanations and examples.
• We do not promise outcomes. We never state or imply that a reader is guaranteed a loan, job, admission or approval.

Corrections

An editor will review every correction request. Where we find an error, we correct the guide promptly and update the date shown on the page. Where a correction changes the meaning of a guide significantly, we note the correction on the page.
